Half an hour by car, circa 19 miles, lie the Mourne Mountains. The Mournes stand true to the words of songwriter Percy French as the place ‘where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea’. They are not only one of Ireland’s most scenic areas and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, they are quite simply an adventurer’s paradise.

Craigavon Golf and Ski Centre

Offering lessons and open sessions in dry slope skiing and snowboarding, with tubing also available for over 5s. Golf range and putting green also on site.

 

Tannaghmore Animal Farm

Rare and traditional breeds to visit, plus barn museum with craft demonstrations, nice nature walks and a playground. Plus it’s free to visit so a great option for the little one’s first farmyard foray to see if they like it!

Lough Neagh Discovery Centre

A good starting point for a family visit to Oxford Island Nature Reserve, with lots of information available from leaflefts and knowledgeable staff. Great views of the island and over Lough Neagh. Free to visit.

 

Oxford Island

A National Nature Reserve with a number of habitats to explore and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Trails to follow, plus a marina full of activities, and a museum to visit.
